Our journey (so far)

After 5 years of infertility, we finally got a BFP via IUI with donor sperm. Pregnant with healthy identical twin girls, my husband and I thought our dreams had finally come true!
On June 12th, 2008 our world collapsed. Our little girls hearts had stopped beating at 19 weeks, due to Twin-to-Twin Tranfusion Syndrome. Berber and Gerber were our perfect little angels, and we miss them dearly each and every day.

Seven months after losing the girls, we were fortunate enough to conceive again using the same donor. On September 15th, 2009, we welcomed our son, Sherbert, into the world. This is our journey.

Run, fat girl, RUN!

(Sorry to anyone who had the blank version of this post show up in their reader. Note to self: do not eat while blogging - you may inadvertently press 'enter' a few times while trying to find your way around the gigantic bowl of soup in front of you)

As you may have assumed from the title, I've decided to start running. Not sure if you can really call it "running" yet, more like "slow jogging while gasping for air". And I'm not even sure if you can say I've "started", as I have a whopping one outdoor run under my belt (last night). But hey...I went 2.2 miles! Sure, I would jog/gasp for air then walk, jog/gasp for air then walk...wash, rinse repeat.

The thing is, I have a goal. And I'm not going to fuck it up this year. I will run in the Hope & Hearts 5k in honor of Berber and Gerber on September 11th. Last night, when I wanted to give up, I just thought about my little angels cheering me on...and that kept me going. Sometimes another 30 seconds, sometimes an additional 5 seconds.

I have a long way to go, but at least I have more than 5 months to prepare! I was a runner in high school, but that was more than 10 years and 60 pounds ago...yikes!

Here's a little Sherbie love:

Regarding my last post: no, damnit--I didn't say 'penis', 'vagina', 'dildo cam' OR 'semen'. Sonofabitch...when will I EVER be able to say those words in front of 150 people again? Likely never. Crap.

Oh, and Jelly asked if the speech was videotaped. Nope, sorry!! I will do a written version, though. Stay tuned. :)

Good for you for restarting your running carreer. You will do it, I know you will.

You guys are SO CUTE! You don't look fat! Not at all! Good night! I'd stick to "sit on my ass" if I were you (and I probably am!!)!!

GL on it, though. Can't hurt you, that's for sure!

You having been a past runner probably know how to get back into running, but you can always try the couch to 5k program. Just google it, and there are tips on how much to run/walk until you work your up to it. I have not done it, but am seriously thinking about it.

Sherbie is adorable!

Just wanted to wish you luck with the running! I am so not a runner (and never was) and I taught myself to run last year using the "couch to 5k" plan (first link that comes up in google). I went the easy way by going for time, not distance, but if you are ahead of where I started, you could go for distance. It really worked. I never could have thought I could jog for 2 miles without a break. I blogged a lot of it, too. Anyway, I'll be cheering you on! :)

Awesome job on the running! I know how hard it is to restart - probably why I never do! I will totally be cheering you on. And you and sherbie look so gorgeous and happy in those shots - beautiful.

You are my hero for getting into running again...what better inspiration than your girls! Did you do a half-cake for his half-birthday? So cute, I'm planning to do the same in June!
