Our journey (so far)

After 5 years of infertility, we finally got a BFP via IUI with donor sperm. Pregnant with healthy identical twin girls, my husband and I thought our dreams had finally come true!
On June 12th, 2008 our world collapsed. Our little girls hearts had stopped beating at 19 weeks, due to Twin-to-Twin Tranfusion Syndrome. Berber and Gerber were our perfect little angels, and we miss them dearly each and every day.

Seven months after losing the girls, we were fortunate enough to conceive again using the same donor. On September 15th, 2009, we welcomed our son, Sherbert, into the world. This is our journey.

The house?? SOLD!

That whole single mother thing? Yeah...not gonna happen. We sold the house!! We got an offer yesterday morning, countered a few times, and landed at a pretty fair price. We had hoped for a little more, but the buyers are currently renting and therefore have no home to sell--HUGE BONUS! The sale was contingent on an inspection, which happened this afternoon--and it passed! There's also a finance contingency, but our realtor has complete confidence in the banker who signed the pre-approval letter. So...holy shit! We're a-movin'! Again!

Closing is July 23rd. I'll be oh...30 weeks pregnant*? Lovely, right? At least B's job pays for moving expenses, meaning yours truly will be doing little to no lifting. Speaking of...we've never used a moving company. Do they really pack all of your shit?? We've never had that luxury, so I don't really know what to expect. Usually B and I haul everything ourselves (screaming and swearing at each other in the meantime, might I add).

Just one minor problem: we haven't found a house yet. We've looked at 15-20 houses, and have only found 2 or 3 potentials. The housing prices in the new area are a bit more pricey, so its taking a little getting used to. We looked at one yesterday that is pretty much move-in ready and has plenty of land...but we're not loving it because its a split entry. Not that it would be the end of the world, but our first home was a split and it was a complete pain in the ass hauling in groceries and shizz. Here's the front:

We're looking at another place on Wednesday, a rambler that just came on the market:

Hopefully we find the right house for the right price and they're willing to close in a little over a month.

Oh...and for those who have been missing out on Mabel & Tungsten pics, here are a couple of cute ones from this week. Mabel found a turtle and was very curious. Tungsten was absolutely TERRIFIED and refused to go near it. Ugh, kids.

*My paranoid ass needs to put the little disclaimer in: if I make it to 30 weeks. Which I hope and pray that I will, but I know its not a given.

yes, they do pack everything. However, please pack anything with sentimental value or that is very costly yourself.

That is wonderful news about the house selling! What a miracle in these times!

I have a friend who is married to a Marine and the moving company is not that gentle with their things.

after having a moving company move us from MA to VA, I never want to go back to moving myself. The best part for me was the dressers and night-stands. Anything with drawers, they just wrap up and put in the truck. Maybe next time I'll shove everything into a drawer. Congrats on selling the house!

I have a split entry. We don't mind it.

Both houses look nice though. I want to see more pics of both... can you email me links to their listings? (Only if you want)... m.ifthisworks@gmail.com. I love house shopping!

Congrats on selling the house!!!

Congrats on selling the house! That part was the hardest and you are going to find a great house!

I feel exactly the same way about split levels and just can't see my way around that bias. Also, the rambler sort of reminds me of a green version of the Brady house and that would be cool. Wonder if it would come with Alice? Or a green version of Alice? Maybe not green in color (cum Star Trek) but green in earth-saving?

Congrats!!! That is amazing you sold so quickly!

PS- just my 2 cents- we bought a split level house (that we currently live in) and I can assure you it is a COMPLETE pain in the ass with kids. The kicker was that it was brand new. I'd give anything for a standard entry.

Oy, make sure you check. Either it is a move and you pack all your stuff or it is a pack and move and they pack all your stuff. It depends. You don't want to get the wrong one.

Yeah for selling!

That is fantastic news!! Good luck with finding the new homestead!

Congratulations! That is so exciting!

We are veteran movers (military) and yes the moving company will pack everything, but beware that they will pack everything based on location and not relevance. So if there is a drinking glass in the bedroom it will get packed with bedroom stuff.

When they first arrive offer lunch to your packers and loaders and you'll get better treatment. If you're doing door to door damage should be minimal.

Congrats!!! What great news! IMHO: Yes the split level will be a pain with Sherbie! I have 23 steps to my front door and hate carrying everything up all those stairs as well as stairs inside the house. If I could do it over I would go for a one level in a second.

Awesome news! Congratulations - sounds like everything is coming together beautifully.

And can I just say that that picture of Mabel with the turtle is my new favorite thing in the whole wide world? Seriously, I am smitten with Mabel and her awesome adventures.

Congratulations! I hope you find your new home soon. Yes, split entries are a real pain in the a--, especially with kids. If there's a railing, not a wall at the top of the stairway, you'll have to put in a permanent gate in the wall and then patch it up when they can get up and down stairs well. If you have more than one kid, you'll have that darned gate up forever. Just awful, believe me. Then the wall has to be repaired and it really never looks the same. Ugh.

OMG! Well heck if the house selling gods are with you then the way past 30 week baby ones should be too!

congrats on the sale but more importantly- i have no doubt that you will make it oh, about 10 weeks longer than 30. unless you want to go a few days early. that is ok too. :)
